What to wear to a non-professional job interview

You’ll want to look polished but not overly formal for a non-professional job interview. Your outfit should reflect the company culture while still showing that you put effort into your appearance. Here are some general guidelines:

Casual Job (Automotive, Retail, Restaurant, Customer Service, Warehouse, etc.)

Top: A clean, wrinkle-free blouse, polo, or button-down shirt. Avoid overly bright prints or graphics.

Bottoms: Dark jeans without rips, not too baggy, or chinos. If wearing a skirt, keep it knee-length or longer.

Shoes: Clean athletic shoes, loafers, flats, or ankle or clean work boots if appropriate. Avoid flip-flops or overly worn-out shoes.

Creative or Startup Environment

Top: A stylish but modest top, a nice sweater, blouse, or casual blazer over a T-shirt without graphics.

Bottoms: Well-fitted jeans, khakis, or tailored pants.

Shoes: Casual loafers, stylish athletic shoes, or boots.

Extras: A bit of personality in accessories is fine, like a subtle necklace or patterned scarf.

General Tips

Grooming: Make sure your hair is well groomed and your nails are clean.

Fit: Clothes should be well-fitted, not too tight or baggy.

Simplicity: When in doubt, go for a clean and put-together look rather than trendy or flashy.
