Automotive Mentoring Group (AMG) helps support youth and adults develop work and life skills as they restore classic cars. AMG has helped many young men and women turn their lives around since it opened in 2007. Many of the young men and women are now former gang members. AMG helps the participants earn their high school diplomas, enroll in colleges, and obtain jobs and apprenticeships in the automotive industry and beyond. AMG assist in job readiness, interview clothes, and transportation to interviews.

AMG teaches automotive repair, including comprehensive bodywork and restoration, as well as light mechanical repair in a three to six month programming. AMG mentors come from a wide range of backgrounds from mechanics to teachers and from all walks of life. The participants enrolled in the program learn how to take apart and rebuild an entire car from the outer body frame to the interior.

They are also taught the basics of custom car design, sewing upholstery, installing canvas tops and carpeting, as well as painting.  Along with the hands on approach, the participates are well versed in life skills needed to function in society including respect, honesty, integrity and above all the satisfaction of a job well done.

AMG is rebuilding lives one at a time. Please find it in your heart to donate to AMG to continue as an avenue to help our local youth.
