The Design Studio at Automotive Mentoring Group (AMG) has recently been redesigned, and it’s quickly becoming one of the most inspiring spaces in our program.
This updated studio was thoughtfully created to reflect the real-world materials and decisions involved in automotive restoration. It’s not just a room full of samples — it’s a hands-on learning environment where creativity, craftsmanship, and problem-solving come together.
Throughout the studio, you’ll find an expanded collection of paint swatches used to explore color matching, finishes, and restoration accuracy. These swatches help students understand how subtle differences in tone and texture can completely change the look and feel of a vehicle.
The space also features a wide range of fabrics and interior materials, including upholstery options, carpet samples, and metal finishes commonly used in restoration projects. From classic interiors to modern custom designs, students can see and feel the materials they’ll work with long before they’re installed on a vehicle.
One of the most exciting additions to the Design Studio is the inclusion of wheel designs and finish samples, giving students a chance to explore how design choices impact both performance and aesthetics. These details matter in restoration work, and the studio allows students to experiment, ask questions, and develop confidence in their choices.
More than anything, the redesigned Design Studio supports AMG’s mission: to provide meaningful, hands-on education that prepares students for real careers in the automotive industry. It encourages collaboration, sparks creativity, and helps students understand that restoration is both a technical skill and an art.
There’s always something new happening at Automotive Mentoring Group, and the updated Design Studio is just one more way we’re investing in our students, our programs, and the future of the automotive industry.
